2016 Season
THE 2016 EBASS FINAL – DE HOOP DAM
The 2016 EBASS final took place at De Hoop dam over two days (04 & 05 November 2016).
The event fishing hours were extended from 06h00 – 16h30 to give competitors the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic bass fishery to its fullest.
The early post spawn conditions made fishing definitely not a walk in the park, but perseverance, skills and experience was rewarded with some huge bags.
Fishing for Saturday afternoon was severely hampered by a massive thunder storm which hit the dam around 14h00, making conditions rather nasty.
With a few exceptions, to find the bass was a bit of a hit and run affair. To be successful anglers had to find the baitfish first and then apply their knowledge and experience to figure out how the bass will relate to baitfish. For these Bass Masters the rewards were massive and the top five ending up with combined 2 day bags between 17 and 21kgs.
After two long days of fishing it was Shandon Hawman and Izak de Beer of Team Mercury Quantum who turned out victorious with a stunning combined bag weight of 21,12kgs. The winning team was followed in to second place by Darren van Heerden and Danie Cotzee of team Body Glove/ Camjor with 18, 86 kgs and Hennie Schoeman and Ruan Wahl from Cube Design Innovations with 17,35kgs.
The prestigious Team of the Year award was once again scooped up by Team Mercury Qantum and Shandon and Izak winning a once in a lifetime Formula1 Grand Prix Tour to Spain next year
The successful 2016 EBASS series was closed off at Thandabantu River Lodge with an exciting prize giving and sumptuous spitbraai.
EBASS – WITBANK DAM 06 AUGUST 2016
Witbank Dam turn out to be a difficult day for most competitors. The day started out with very cold conditions, but turned into a surprisingly pleasant sunny afternoon.
Fishing was extremely difficult and the event produced a winning bag of only 1,9kg – a record low winning bag weight in the history of the EBASS series.
The majority of competitors did not manage to land any keeper fish. The bite started of very slowly, but seemed to improve just before cut-off time and a shallow grass pattern proved to be
the best producer of the day. The top 5 places for this difficult but enjoyable event was:
1 – Team Merc Carriers – Leon Potgieter and Willem Lubbinge
2 – Team Big Bite – Roy Law and Sean Riley
3 – Team Tribal Boats – Jacques Schoeman and Corne Schoeman
4 – Team Bru Force – Craig Ninaber and Neels Botha
5 – Team Climbing Kilimanjaro – Marco van Veelen and Ralph Connell

BRONKHORSTSPRUIT DAM REPLACEMENT
Hi Ebassers
Unfortunately Bronkies as voted for as our Aug (Arabie) replacement venue will clash with a Southern Division junior divisional event.
The committee has therefore decided to move the event to Witbank Dam (our back-up venue for the event).
Hi Ebassers
VAAL DAM VENUE CHANGE
We have received numerous concerns regarding our scheduled Vaal Dam event.
We have therefore decided to present participants with 4 possible alternative options, to vote for.
